How to report content
If you feel a course or video violates our guidelines, please report it by sending an email to support@pineappleacademy.com with information on which piece of content and why you feel it is in violation.
How we review content
Content is removed or restricted when it’s found to violate one of our policies, such as our Community Content Guidelines, or when it violates a law. To determine whether content is violative, we use a combination of automated systems and human reviews.
Automated systems
Our automated systems use machine learning, which allows them to use data from the content itself and previous human reviews to identify potentially violative content. Our automated systems will simply flag content to a trained human reviewer for evaluation before any action is taken.
Human reviews
When a human reviewer checks potentially violative content, it means a trained human evaluates the content and makes a decision based on the relevant policy or law.
If content is found to be violative, our human reviewers decide to issue a strike to the Content Creator. After a content decision is made, if the decision is appealed, a human will review the appeal and evaluate it on a case-by-case basis.
Strike Policy
If your content violates our Community Guidelines, the Content Creator will get a strike.
Note: We may remove content for reasons other than Community Content Guidelines violations. For example, a first-party privacy complaint or a court order. In these cases, the Content Creator won't get a strike.
What happens when you get a strike
When a Content Creator gets a strike, they're informed via email. We’ll tell you:
- What content was removed
- Which policies it violated (for example non-educational or violent content)
- How it affects the Content Creator
- What the Content Creator can do next
Warnings
The first violation is typically only a warning. Warnings expire after 90 days. However, if a Content Creator's content violates the same policy within that 90 day window, the warning will not expire and the Content Creator will be given a strike.
First Strike
If we find content doesn’t follow our policies for a second time, the Content Creator will get a strike. This strike comes with the following penalties:
- Offending content is blocked from public view
- 10% garnishment on revenue share for all content for 30 days
- Metrics during strike period are excluded from any reporting
The strike remains on the Content Creator for 90 days.
Second Strike
If the Content Creator gets a strike within the same 90-day period as the first strike the following penalties will be issued:
- Offending content is blocked from public view
- 50% garnishment on revenue share for 30 days
- Metrics during strike period are excluded from any reporting
Each strike will not expire until 90 days from the time it was issued.
Third Strike
3 strikes in the same 90-day period results in the loss of the Content Creator status. All content will be removed from public view
Note: Deleting violative content doesn't remove a strike. We may also issue a Community Content Guidelines strike on deleted content. You can learn more about when we retain deleted content in our Subscription Service agreement.
What to do when you get a strike
We want a large community of Content Creators, so remember to do the following:
- Review our Community Content Guidelines to make sure content follows our policies.
- Resolve any violations and work with us to reinstate any blocked content.
- If you get a strike, and you think we've made a mistake, let us know. You can appeal the decision by contacting support@pineappleacademy.com.
Pineapple Academy also reserves the right to restrict a creator's ability to create content at its discretion. You can learn more in our Subscription Service agreement.
